Hai Nam Association of Southern California English/Chinese Scholarship Award Ceremony

As a long-standing tradition, the Hainam Association of Southern California rewards the students who achieve excellence in the formal school system. On August 26^th, 2007 at our association, we hosted the ceremony and rewarded 16 excellent students, including 15 in American schools and one in Chinese school.

Honorable Former Chairman Mr. Danny Lu, Chairman Mr. William Su, Vice Chairmen: Mr. Johnny Q. Han, Mr. Robert Hang, Mr. Cheng E. Chhay, Mr. James Vuong, Honorable Chairman and Vice Chairmen of Board of Supervisor: Mr. Edward Phan, Mr.On Chanh Phan, Mr. Chieu Bong Lam, Mr. Kiet Bao Diep, Honorable Treasurer Mr. Anh Minh Lam, Honorable Chairwoman of Board of Education Mrs. Ming Fu, Honorable Chairman and member, respectively, of the Board of technology/webmaster Mr.Tom Lam and Mrs. Tiffany Lam, Honorable Chairman of The Board of  Senior Services Mr. Tu Nang Diep. Honorable Chairwoman of The Board of Welfare Mrs. Anh Xuan Phan. Honorable accountant Tammy Bich Lam, Honorable member of Board of Public Relation Mr.Jackie Chen and many more members of The 13^th Board of Director plus award recipients and their parents attended this wonderful and important ceremony.

Mrs. Ming Fu, The Chairwoman of Board of Education, started the ceremony by introducing the background of the scholarship program and the meaningful facts of it. Next, Chairman Mr. William Su congratulated the recipients and advised the students to get involved more with association’s activities to know more about association, and one day in the future help to lead the association to a higher level of servicing the Hainanese community and the greater society. Honorable Chairman Mr. Danny Lu, Honorable Executive Advisor Mr.Phu Quoc Hong, Honorable Chairman of The Board of  Senior Services Mr.Tu Nang Diep also made many excellent complimenting speeches. Student representatives then expressed their thoughts about the program and also take this opportunity to thanks The Association and donors. Recipient Dennis Su spoke in Chinese, followed by Desirae Lau in both English and Chinese, as the students one by one came up to podium accept their awards with full of joy and happiness and proud of themselves. College students received $300, high school students received $200, middle school and Chinese school students received $100 each. The board of Director Members hope the students understand our ancestry and also our believed in term of religious, therefore we led the students to upstairs to show and explain to them about our Temple, religious ideas, practices, and worship. Regarding 108 Hainanese Ancestor see below).     Thanks to Mr. Danny Lu, Mr. William Su, and Mr. Sei Chun Yip who donated $500 each. Mr.K.C.Wong donated $300. Mr.Edward Phan. Mr.Johnny Q. Han, Mr. Robert Hang donated $200 each. Mr. Shih Mo Yeh donated $100.00.

The ceremony was successfully hosted and ended with a tasty and wonderful Hainanese Chicken Fragrance Rice lunch.

Congratulations to all students and salute all the parent for doing a good job to raise your children to become a good student today and good men and women for the society Tomorrow.
